Knit Snood
Item: Hooded Scarf
Seller: Kampsun
I had never heard of a “snood” before visiting Kampsun on Etsy.com, and now that I know what it is, I’m pretty impressed/obsessed.
“I am super-excited to present you my newest design for this winter/spring! A hooded scarf for women,” the seller writes in the Etsy item description. “This is the perfect alternative to a hat. It keeps you really warm and makes you look cute and trendy. Wrap this around you to keep warm and cozy. 100% merino. It can easily be wrapped around the neck once or even twice for extra warmth. It has a nice lace pattern and a really awesome texture.”
I met Maria Kesvatera, the seller behind Kampsun, via my Etsy Item of the Day shop submission page.
“Hello there, I’m Maria – the knitter and designer behind my shop Kampsun,” she told me. “My day job is actually in a theater orchestra where I play the violin, but in my spare time I just love doing all kinds of crafts, especially knitting. My shop originally started from wanting to share my love for knitting with others. I could never possibly wear all the things I knit, because there are just too many! Also I see a lot of traditional lovely knits, but I really want to take those traditions and come up with something new, edgy and fashionable.”
“My shop name Kampsun is an Estonian word and it means “sweater“. It’s a name that made sense most, since I’ve always thought I would knit so many sweaters, that by the end of my life I could make a huge exhibition of them,” she said.
When she’s not crafting for her fun shop, Maria says she is likely traveling, reading books, going to all kinds of art exhibitions.
I love to ask Etsy sellers where they shop on Etsy.com because I usually get some fabulous leads on shops. After all, those on the site the most are probably the ones that know where we can all find some awesome handmade goods!
“[My favorite] would be probably Umwelt. It’s quite a new shop, run by Maria – a dear friend to me,” she shared. “I enjoy her drawings so much and I’m really hoping her shop will be a success.”
Maria tells other Etsy sellers to have an awesome product and best possible pictures. “These are the two most important things,” she advises.
“Also SEO – a difficult thing to work on, but really useful,” she says.
So what’s next for Maria’s shop on Etsy?
“I’m working on spring/summer accessories right now. I just listed three wonderful scarves today and hope there will be many more to come,” she tells me.

Thanks for sharing your shop with me, Maria!
