This series from Etsy photographer FreedomStudios caught my eye.  It’s called the “Subway Series“.

“Since my very first trip to NY as a kid, I’ve loved the subways and trains,” the seller writes. “Especially the New York Subway Cars. I’m waiting for Serpico or one of The Warriors to come into the car with me (Google them!) The trains today use the same tunnels they did when they originally opened in 1904.”

This series is pretty cool for a small(er) town girl like me!

Check out this lovely photograph listed in an Etsy.com shop called IndigoArtsPhotos. The photographer behind this shop is named Sarah Coppola, and I met her via my Etsy Item of the Day shop submission page.

“I grew up being into every kind of art possible,” Sarah told me. “My mom is a full time potter, so clay sculpture is my first love. But ever since I took black & white photography classes in college, I’ve loved photography as well. I am currently the studio manager at a portrait photography studio and have renewed my photography passion lingering from college. I have so much fun searching for cool shots.”

This winter shot above is my favorite (probably because the lack of snow this winter in my neck of the woods!) but here are some others I thought you guys may like too:

When she’s not photographing, Sarah told me she likes to read crime mysteries, play soccer, spend time with her 2 cats, listen to good music (indie, classic rock or techno usually), and go to art shows, galleries, studios, etc.

I love to see where Etsy sellers are shopping on the site. Sarah told me about a shop called bootsravendesigns.

“I’ve been really drooling over some of the earrings in this shop lately!” Sarah said.

Here’s Sarah’s advice to sellers:

“I have another shop on Etsy with my clay work that I’ve had a bit longer than this one,” she said. “I’d say finding your unique niche and advertising outside of Etsy are key.”

So what’s coming up next for Sarah’s Etsy shop IndigoArtsPhotos?

“I plan to continue taking some interesting new photos and start offering them on other materials such as wood blocks, cards, etc.” she told me.

Meet photographer Emily Reiter, who is the creative mind behind AnnaDelores on Etsy.com. I first heard about Emily and her shop via my submission page. (Have you submitted your shop yet!?)

“I’m a late-twenty-something Angeleno working at an architectural college in downtown LA and still (probably indefinitely) exploring life’s options. I live with my SUPER cute mutt, Mickey, and love long walks to Larchmont Village and dinners with my nearby family. I also spend lots of time with my amazing man-friend. ” she told me.  ”I’m also a budding semi-professional (what I take to mean “part-time” as well as “still growing”) photographer and started my own business called Anna Delores Photography in early 2011.”

So what’s with the name of Emily’s shop?

“The name “Anna Delores” comes from my maternal great-grandmother (Anna) and my paternal grandmother (Delores),” she explained. “Ancestry fascinates me, and I also love vintage, antique photos (and photos that LOOK vintage or antique) so I thought it appropriate to pay homage to my heritage.”

My favorite photograph in Emily’s shop is the one above, but here are a couple others I thought were pretty cool:

When she’s not crafting, Emily told me she likes to get outside and walk the dog.  ”But I also love to close the shutters and crawl into bed for a nap on a lazy Sunday,” she said.

“I spend a lot of time trying to find new ways to promote and market Anna Delores Photography. I also dabble in handmade jewelry and paper crafts,” Emily told me.

When I asked Emily where she browses on Etsy.com, she told me about several photographers on Etsy she admires.

“Irene Suchocki, Elle Moss, bomobob, Lupen Grainne (of Honeytree) and the like,” she said. “My other big weakness is jewelry; some of my favorites are BeautySpot, Compass Rose Design, and LuminOddities. I’m also newly-obsessed with Yellow Heart Art.”

Emily had great advice to share for other sellers on Etsy:

“To be patient and use all possible tools at your disposal,” she recommends. “When I first opened my Etsy shop, I thought that was all I needed to do: open for business. I quickly learned the volume of competition on Etsy and felt overwhelmed about it for a little while, but then rose to the challenge and marketed the heck out of Anna Delores. It’s been a slow-grow process, but it’s working and it’s definitely worth it. Every sale makes me super-happy. ”

I’m anxious to see what’s next for Emily and her lovely Etsy shop.

“After the start of the new year, I’ll be launching my website, www.annadelores.com. Super excited about that!” she said. Looks great, Emily!
