Quirky Minimalist Necklace
Item: The Quirky Minimalist Necklace
Seller: fableandlore
Meet Chelsie Hellige, the seller behind FableAndLore on Etsy.com. I met Chelsie via my Etsy Item of the Day shop submission page.
“I’m Chelsie, I’m 27, and since the moment I discovered Etsy a few years ago I became obsessed with it!” she told me. “Inspired by the creativity I saw on Etsy and at indie craft shows, I started making fun necklaces and accessories and have never looked back. I really love putting something totally unique into the world, and I especially love making people happy with my creations. It sounds cheesy, but a gushing customer really just makes my day. I would love to be able to do Etsy full-time someday!”
Chelsie told me that when she’s not crafting for her Etsy shop, she loves to hang out with her husband and dog, relax at her favorite coffee shop, eat at good restaurants, go vintage shopping (or just browse the Anthropologie sale room), and read good books.
When shopping on Etsy.com for herself, Chelsie says she loves to go for vintage finds, art prints, and paper goods.
“I really tend to visit the vintage shops the most, actually. My faves are Capricious Traveler, Dear Golden, Pepper Fields, Young Captive and Thrush Vintage,” she told me. “They are just delightful shops with gorgeous, expertly curated vintage items. I also tend to love shops that sell colorful art prints and paper goods, like Amber Alexander and Wit and Whistle, among so many others.”
Here is Chelsie’s advice to sellers:
“Just jump in and do it! From experience, I can say that the hardest part is just getting started. Also, I really feel like I get out of my shop what I put into it. The more I make, list, renew listings, improve, tweet, etc….the better I do. This is common sense, really. You have to pay attention to it for it to succeed! I’m still working everyday to improve my shop and try something new.”
So what’s next for FableAndLore?
“I want to add fresh new designs more often, and try a lot of new things. Maybe I’ll even open another Etsy shop eventually….who knows! I’m just kind of organically letting it grow and tell me where it needs to go,” she told me. “Also, as a more concrete goal, I want to double my sales this year! So far I’m doing pretty well, but I like to keep stepping up my game.”
