Item: Black Earrings
Seller: SimplySleek

Meet Leslie, the jewelry seller behind the Etsy shop SimplySleek. I first met Leslie via my Etsy Item of the Day shop submission page!
“In my late teens I became a self-taught handcrafted jeweler. I was inspired by a family friend. I have a funny story as to what opened my eyes to jewelry making,” she said. “I was forced by my Mom to go to a jewelry party at my Aunt’s house. I sat and pouted through most of it until I actually looked at the jewelry. I had a light-bulb moment after talking and questioning the family friend who had made the jewelry.”
“When I am not crafting, I am looking for things I can learn to do with my two little hands,” Leslie tells me. “I’ve taken to bread baking recently. But by next month, it will proabably be something different.”
Leslie told me she likes to browse Modernality2 and TheParisPrintShop on Etsy.
“It is so easy to update a room by changing simple items,” she says of Modernality. “Cost efficient too!”
“I love the photography, their composition is awesome!” Leslie says of TheParisPrintShop.
“Owning a shop or any business really is a learning experience,” Leslie says when asked to share advice to others selling their handmade goods on Etsy.com. “Great customer service, good pictures, accurate listings and fast shipping will eventually pay off. And, do not forget to be a human! Talk to your customers/potential customers. People gravitate to shops who stand behind the products they create and care about each customer’s experience.”
What’s next for Leslie’s shop SimplySleek?
“Gemstone cluster earrings, I fell in love with them and how the color combinations can pair well with any ensemble. They can be dressed up or paired with your favorite t-shirt and jeans. I am in the process of crafting a few pairs currently. I am excited about them,” she says.
