Item: Utah Utes “U” Decoration

Yesterday I was walking around the outskirts of my college campus as a alum. Yep. I was on Greek Row headed to my chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma to help them with fall recruitment, and it was really weird.
At the risk of sounding like a grandma, I just kept wondering where all the time had gone. Better yet, I was wondering what exact moment college life had turned into real life.
It’s a super odd moment when you are able to compare your past priorities with your current priorities, and when I was in the sorority house it was like they were on either side of me. I’m not sure how I was able to juggle everything I had going on back then. If I had 4-5 classes, a 30 hour/week job, sorority obligations, and a social life to balance right now, I’d probably really miss sleep. I guess you just make due with what’s handed to you.
And then I started to question my current priorities and wonder how they came about to be there. Where on earth had all this time gone? For all the stupid things I was focused on then, there are probably just as many stupid things I worry about now. Thinking back to all the break-ups, bad decision-making drinking nights, and stress over a lame grade on a test made me laugh.
Who cares about any of that stuff now?
It made me sort of excited to look back 5 years from this exact moment and giggle about the stuff that worries me now.
If anything, yesterday made me think twice about taking myself too seriously. Especially after remembering all the dumb things I did as a sorority girl in college!
