Aromatherapy to the Rescue

January6

Item: Beginner’s Aromatherapy Kit
Seller: TheBearfootShaman

So I have been having some seriously gnarly headaches lately and I need to find a way to get rid of them! It may be the stress of the holidays – or the cold Salt Lake City weather – but regardless of the cause, I’m over it and need them to stop.

A friend suggested using essential oils to alleviate headaches. I figure it couldn’t hurt, right?

Found this beginner’s aromatherapy kit on Etsy. The kit comes with eight essential oils. Here is some basic info about essential oils in case you missed that day in Holistic Healing 101:

Essential oils are classified by “notes”, which is used to describe their scent characteristics.

“Top Notes” evaporate quickly and contain anti-viral elements. Top Notes are usually light and fresh. They are typically not long lasting. With this kit, you get three top notes (orange, peppermint, and lemon.)

Then you’ve got the “Middle Notes” which are supposed to have a balancing effect for the body. Middle Notes are usually have warm and soft scents. In this kit, you get three of these (lavender, German chamomile, and rosemary.)

Finally, these are the “Base Notes”. Base Notes have a very heavy scent. They slow down the evaporation of the other oils. They tend to be expensive and are relaxing. In this kit, you get three Base Notes (vetiver, frankincense, and ylang ylang).

I read that lavendar, peppermint, and chamomile are good for treating headaches, so I would be set with this beginners kit. The kit costs $65.00.

See ya later never, headaches!
