MoonOverMaize Turquoise Circles Handmade Bracelet Turquoise Circle Bracelet

I am loving this $26.00 bracelet selling on Etsy.com by seller MoonOverMaize!  Like the seller says in the Etsy item description, this bracelet is “simple and perfect for summer.”  I couldn’t agree more!

This piece of handmade jewelry is a stunning combination of turquoise rondelles and turquoise heishi stones.

Before I lose you, “Heishi” turns out to have a pretty rad background.  It’s the oldest form of jewelry in New Mexico and means “shell necklace.”

“Heishi” is pronounced “hee-shee” and the word actually comes from the Keres language, spoken by the Native Americans living in Kewa, (Santa Domingo Pueblo).  Interestingly, Heishi appears to be the only Native American  jewelry that derives directly from Native American history and culture.

This piece is really awesome and beautiful.  It was also fun to research Heishi.  As one article I read online said, “A heishi necklace is a treasure that brings a lifetime of pleasure and pride to the owner.”

Great work MoonOverMaize!

I love it! What a great summer piece…might have to add to my collection of Monica Grover originals.

Gorgeous! And thanks for the lesson on heishi…I always thought it was Japanese in origin!
