Steampunk Jewelry
Item: Nostalgie Steampunk Tea Spoon Curio
Seller: SylviaAnderson

I came across this seller in the Etsy.com forums and was intrigued by this awesome piece.
I had a few questions:
#1: What the heck is a “curio”?
Webster says it’s “something (as a decorative object) considered novel, rare, or bizarre.” Hmmm… couldn’t find much else on what it means. I guess that definition will have to do.
#2: What is “steampunk”?
This time I turned to good old Wikipedia. “Steampunk” is a sub-genre of fantasy and speculative fiction that came into was popular in the 1980s and early 1990s. It refers to the the era when steam power is still widely used. This is usually the 19th century, and often Victorian era England. Interestingly, steampunk peices often have rominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy. Very cool…
I love that this piece is called “Nostalgie”, which the seller (SylviaAnderon) writes is French for “nostalgia”, “homesickness”, “yearning”, or “longing”.
The seller says that nostalgia holds a special place in her heart, and she felt the word was a perfect fit for this wonderful antique tintype photo.
The pendant comes with an 18 inch plated small link chain. The spoon pendant measures 3.25 inches long and is 1 inch wide.
The piece is selling for $42.00 and I find it greatly fascinating!
