Not Your Typical Yo-Yo Set

Item: Framed Quilted Yo-Yo Set
Seller: Robayre
I was told about this Etsy seller on Twitter and I am so happy I checked out the shop! The seller (Robayre) has a number of shop categories – “Jewelry”, “Artwork”, “Paper Goods”… and then “Yo-Yo Sets”.
Of course, I went to the yo-yo sets first.
Then I was really confused with what I saw…

Yo-yo set?? This Etsy piece was not what I was expecting!
After doing some research, I learned a little bit about yo-yo quilt pieces. The “Yo-Yo” term refers to little rosettes made by gathering circles of fabric. They are usually sewn side by side into rows. Yo-yo quilts were very popular in the 1930′s and 1940′s.
Here’s a close up of the piece on Etsy (being sold for $35.00):
It is being sold as a home decor piece. The seller has is displayed in a 10 inch square wood frame from IKEA.
The seller creates these pieces in a variety of colors, but this green and blue piece was my favorite. The yo-yos are mounted on a green watercolor background.
The sellers says she has been been making yoyos for over 14 years and started her first quilt when she was 15 years old! She calls herself the “yoyo queen” – she deserves it!
Awesome and unique Etsy piece!

Love yo-yos….can’t make them right myself though!
I’ve bought from Robyn in the past. She’s a great seller and wonderful crafter!
I just love Yo-Yo’s. I have a coverlet that I started with my Grandmother (years ago) I really need to finish!
They look gorgeous in the frame!
