Item: Clutch with Snaps

So it was pretty darn hard to narrow down an absolute favorite from Tori of Etsy’s Toriska, so I am going to show you a couple of my favorite purses/clutches from this shop:

See what I mean?  These are lovely handmade bags!

Tori shared a bit about herself and her shop in an Etsy Item of the Day shop submission.

“I am a mom of two and started sewing as a hobby when my oldest was about six months old,” she told me. “Sewing helped keep me sane while dealing with a colicky second baby. I love especially sewing for my kids and home. I have a knack for finding ways to save money, and most of my projects begin as I seek for cheaper ways to decorate my home, diaper my child, wear my baby, carry my stuff, etc. I’ve become more “crunchy” in the past few years and am now a proud cloth diaperer (I made all my diapers), baby-food maker, and all around am more interested in being “green” than I was before having kids.”

Tori told me she frequents Etsy shops that carry supplies.

“My new favorite shop is rubymountaindyeworks. She has such an awesome selection of fabrics, and I love her journal covers and bookmarks too. When I bought fabrics recently for a quilt, she happily accepted a custom request from me,” she said.

I always ask sellers what they would tell someone who is struggling on Etsy.  “Well, I’m pretty new myself,” Tori told me, “but I’ve found that networking is the best way to get your name out there. I spent an evening participating in a BNR Treasury and came out with new friends, new favorite shops, and several new hearts on my items.”

What’s next for Tori and her shop Toriska?

“I’m always thinking of new styles of bags I can make. I just love having a variety of items in my shop as well as a variety of price points for all shoppers. I’d like to try making a few bridal clutches,” she said.
